- Enter the amount and pick a rate, or type any rate such as a local sales tax.
- Read the net amount, the tax and the gross total, and copy them in one line.
Frequently asked questions
How do I remove 20% VAT from a price?
Divide the gross price by 1.2. For £120 the net price is £100 and the VAT is £20. Dividing by 1.2 is not the same as taking 20% off.
How do I add VAT?
Multiply the net price by 1 plus the rate. £100 plus 20% VAT is £120.
Does it work for GST or US sales tax?
Yes. Type the rate that applies, for example 10% GST or your state and city sales tax combined.
Why is there a rounding option?
Tax must be shown in whole cents (or whole won or yen). Rounding mode decides what happens to the fraction, which can change the result by one unit.
