About this tool
Different apps and websites expect different image formats. This converter lets you switch between the most common ones in a single step, and you can also adjust quality and size at the same time.
About the formats
- HEIC
- HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones. It keeps high quality at about half the size of JPG, but Windows, Android and many websites cannot open it.
- JPG
- JPG is the most widely supported photo format. It uses lossy compression, which makes photos small, but it has no transparency.
- PNG
- PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it ideal for logos, screenshots and graphics. Photos saved as PNG are much larger than JPG.
- WebP
- WebP is a modern web format by Google. It is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same quality and supports transparency. All current browsers support it.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
Is there a limit on file size or number of images?
There is no fixed limit. Very large images or big batches depend on your device’s memory, so on a phone it is best to convert a few dozen at a time.
Does converting remove photo metadata?
Yes. The new file contains only the image, so location data and camera details (EXIF) are removed — useful before sharing photos online.
What quality should I choose?
For photos, 75–85% is almost indistinguishable from the original while being much smaller. Use 90% or higher for printing, and 60–70% when file size matters most.
